August Discipleship Challenge
This month, consider accepting the challenge “Care Of The Earth.” Scripture makes it clear that we are caretakers and stewards of all that God has made. Genesis 2:15 states “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” God has asked us to respect the created order. Creation is God’s gift, and it is to be nurtured and maintained with love and care.
The When and Why
The goal is to honor the Creator by loving, nurturing and stewarding his Creation. Caring for the Earth is a way of expressing God’s delight in his very good Creation. By engaging in loving care of the earth, the environment, the plants and the animals, we honor the gifts and treasures of our Creator.
The Practice:
Plan a way to make the earth more beautiful. Plant flowers around the church or a schools.
Plant a garden and share the produce or plants with others. Did you know you can still plant a vegetable garden in August!?!
Recycle or use energy supplies wisely.
Become conscious of the litter in the places you live and work. Consider volunteering to pick up that litter.
Take a resource prayer walk. Thank God for the sheep who give you wool, for the cows who give you milk, for the trees that give you furniture, etc.

Love this beautiful earth God has given us to live in. Thank you for the reminder.
