June Discipleship Challenge- Accountability

The Challenge

Accountability means accepting responsibility while encouraging one another to stay faithful to Christ, grow spiritually, and continue obeying the Lord’ s commands. We are called to “consider how to spur one another for love and good works."

Try One of these for Practice

  • Become an accountability partner. Sign up with someone in the congregation to pray, call, text or send encouraging notes throughout June.

  • Think about the people that have shaped your faith. Reflect on how they helped you grow closer to God. What patterns or practices did they show that you can use for others?

  • Share your motivations, goals, and priorities with another who can help you keep them in line with biblical values.

  • Experience God’ s love and forgiveness more fully through the love and acceptance of a faithful friend

When and Why

Accountability is hard because vulnerability can feel uncomfortable. Admitting failures and struggles can bring feelings of shame, but God did not create us to live independently.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us to “ encourage and build one another up.”

Accountability teaches us how to give and Recieve love and become more welcoming to others. Following Jesus is not meant to be only a private spiritual journey; we are called to live in community. God created us for interdependence, with Him and with others, and we

need trusted relationships to grow spiritually. Regular prayerful accountability can become a life-changing source of God’ s grace.
